Cameron, Missouri is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, approximately an hour north of Kansas City. The town was founded in 1835 and was named after Major David W. Cameron, who was a prominent local figure at the time. The city began to grow rapidly in the mid-1800s when the Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad was built through it, connecting it to major cities such as St. Louis and Chicago. This gave rise to businesses such as lumber mills, flour mills, hotels and banks which helped to further develop Cameron into a thriving small town.
