The 402 area code is located in eastern Nebraska and covers Douglas County along with parts of Sarpy County that are not included in 531 or 988. This area code also includes the cities of Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island and Norfolk. The 531 area code is located in south-central Nebraska and covers Cass County along with parts of Otoe County that are not included in 308 or 988. This area code also includes the cities of Beatrice, Plattsmouth and York. Finally, there is the 988 area code which covers northeastern Nebraska including Cedar County along with parts of Dixon County that are not included in 308 or 402. This area code also includes South Sioux City as well as parts of Dakota County that are not included in either 308 or 402. All these four area codes are associated with landline phones while cell phones use different numbers depending on their service provider.
